The end is nigh. Your hour is now.

SO, this is the last In school day this semester I will be working with this project. This doesn't mean that our fun is over though, let me tell you:

But seriously. Progress has come to a grinding halt since the 3D modeling process just became ten times more complicated by the fact I cant rig the model properly. I'm researching how that is done, but if ANYONE out there wants to help please do so. Plus, I'm not fantastic at the whole ordeal, so when I look at my models I can see a vaguely similar image to the following

Plus the entire process makes me kind of want to flip a table

Anyways, so plans for 2015. Finish the character models, Get terrain down, and add the extra mechanics so that the game can actually function, and so that I'll be super freakin cool with my game development skillZ (With a Z because I'm cool)

So I hope you all have a nice break while I go on a temp hiatus, and be sure to contain all of your emotions in my absence

So for now, I lave you with one final windy thing

Dankbarheit

So basically, thanks giving break is coming up.

If you can't tell I'm pretty excited about this.

Considering that its about time for us to start being thankful, I'm pretty thankful for the fact I get to work on my 3D modeling skills

Im also thankful that I get to learn about the game design experience. It's really exciting to see how games are and its super satisfying to be able to actually create a game instead of just sitting there and talking about how I wish I could make a game.

And most of all, I am thankful for Roflcopters. Future Projections

So, Good news. I have made some excellent progress on my game. Currently, it is in v0.0.1 Alpha, also known as "Beat Things With a Stick Until They Break" game. It shall soon be in v0.0.6 Alpha, however, with the change log being the following:
+ Attacks without jumping
+ 3D models
+ More than just a flat surface to run on
- Derpy glitches
- More derpy glitches

Currently, the attack script is a bit buggy, as it only works when the player jumps. This results in attacks looking somewhat like this

So,
STEP 1. FIX THE ATTACK THING

The next thing after attacks is to get the 3D models in so that i dont have a pill shaped object beating cubes with a cylinder. This way, the game can have animations and look decent. Art style will be very simplistic, with low poly chibi models (click the words for definitions) so it's pleasing to the eye yet not overly time consuming.

STEP 2. DO THE 3D MODEL THING

I also plan on expanding the game some more, doing things such as adding a shooting function

possibly add a trust steed

and maybe a few more things.
But right now, the main priority is make the enemy AI (Artificial Intelligence) and the shooting function.

STEP 3. DO THE ENEMY AI THING

That's all for now. I'll return. Next week. Maybe.

Wait we actually got work done?

I am proud to announce here at [[REDACTED]] Laboratories, we actually got some work done. Sort of. In theory, work has been accomplished. In actuality, we have nothing done. Theoretical work, however, is better than nothing. With the help of my accented chums over at Brackeys on youtube, I've been able to learn stuff about how to work Unity. It's pretty straightforward and helpful, plus the tutorials are pretty good so I'll be able to make some semblance of a game with them.

But yeah these guys are pretty dope nasty yo. With their help I'll be able to get down to some. . .

In other news my associates in my classes listened to a speech about what I'm doing and how I plan to do it. A majority of the people had the following reaction:

but despite this I'll be able to make it through the project with relative ease, as I was able to get some names of some programmers in my school, so that helps.

Until next time.

You mean I actually have to know what I'm talking about?

So apparently I have to give a speech on my project in class, which requires me to actually know what I'm talking about. Not check. However, if I sound like I know what I'm saying there's an approximately 99% chance that everyone will believe me because no one cares enough to actually google what the heck I'm talking about. Check.
Seriously though, confidence is key when giving a speech. Its also good to make some eye contact god dangit. Don't forget that.

Peer Review and the word on the street about my project

So I guess it's time to get down to some  .

My "homies" have given me the "down low" on what they think of my topic.
My main question that will guide me on this quest of futility is "Through what wizardry is the making of video games possible?"

So, The results are in.

No but seriously
My "home slices" from my "'hood" have told me that there are a few things I need to look into.
First of all, both mention my need to learn how to code.
The program I plan on working with, Unity, supports three languages for coding. Said languages are Javascript, C#, and Boo. Most prefer to use C# due to its structure being related to that of Java, however I will probably be learning Javascript considering C# is a bi. . . t harder to learn.
Ill also need to focus on the whole 3D rendering aspect of game making so my games don't end up being another Grand Theft Auto gif.

But yeah, the peer review was pretty helpful so I'll keep what they said in mind while i make sure I don't end up doing what any of the above guys did. Or when I forcibly implement each of those as features. That works too.

This guy is so fresh

So today I'm gonna talk about David Helgason. This guy is pretty awesome. He founded unity, the game engine I'll probably be doing most of my work with

I mean look at that guy
So chic, so stylish
He is the definition of cool
And that isnt sarcasm
Hes just that dope

Interview:
http://www.droidgamers.com/index.php/game-news/interviews/7697-democratizing-an-industry-unity-technologies-and-the-future-of-game-development-an-interview-with-david-helgason

So basically unity started off as a basement project for indie games, but since then it has skyrocketed to becoming the ultimate multi-platform engine for gaming. It's even the official game engine for the Wii-U.
But yeah, Unity is amazing.
David is love
David is life
We will revisit this later

DO THE INTRODUCTION THING

Alright, so I have to write a blog about a large project that I'm undertaking because I want to. Granted, I probably wont finish, but IT'S STILL IMPORTANT TO LEARN THIS.

*Coughs and straightens tie*

Anyways, I am a story telling fanatic. I love telling stories. Obviously, if this was a writing blog most people would exit immediately under the pretense of

So obviously that's out the window
However I can do whatever I want in this project, and I'm still going to focus on telling stories, but not in the way that involves wall upon wall of text.
You may ask yourself; how is this possible? Is this a film blog?
The answer is no.I can't operate a camera are you crazy? Plus actors, mics, a set, the fact it costs approximately more than seven dollars . . .  its all just too much. Besides, whats cooler than a story where you can control the actions of the main character?I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT THESE

No, what I'm talking about is something far more interesting to even the most feeble of minds.

"LOL SO UR GONNA TALK ABOUT NEW GAMES COMING OUT?"

My journey will be one where I learn to make them! Because what is cooler than a story where YOU control the main character? The answer is nothing. If you can name anything cooler, it is easily refuted by the fact that at any time I can add that cooler thing into the game because- oh wait- Its my game! So yes, let us embark on a journey into the world of game design. Everything from 3D modeling to the nitty-gritty of the code. So come with me, as we step into a blue police box and journey through time and space to go wherever we want to go. After we make it. When we get there. Eventually.
