Peers.js

So I revisited many of my peers for this project.
First was, Lia, who is working on raising money by selling friendship bracelets to help LGBT+ teenagers who are dealing with adversity in their homes or communities. If you would like to buy one, contact her at her blog here. Shes doing it or a good cause, so I'd support her if I were you.

So Kohai was up next. His gif game was particularly strong today. I applaud his majesty. He is learning well. Also, his brain studies are advancing at great speeds. If you want to know whats wrong with me, he's probably the guy to talk to

Anyways, next we have Sarah who is going to be the very best website designer

She is making great strides at her progress, and I would highly recommend checking her blog out.

Anyways, we're supposed to upload photos to our blog today.

Anyways, later!

Learning. Ish.

So I began increasing my knowledge of JavaScript, mainly so I can avoid C#, despite the fact it is preferred over JavaScript much of the time. But, naturally all the C# tutorials were buried in videos of very monotone and boring people talking, or in walls of text I was too lazy to read because JavaScript was so readily available.

But yeah, progressing strong.ish. More progress will be made as we advance forth.

Progress.bat

My progress has been making gigantic leaps and bounds towards the end goal

And by that I mean progress has been going slow.
Most of the base code is down, but 3D modeling is something I've been trying to run away from since the very beginning of the project, but it appears I cannot do so any longer.

So i buckled down, got some 3D modeling software, and it looks like I'm going to have to get down to business now. Wish me luck, as I venture into the vast well-known-but-way-more-work-than-I'll-ever-be-in-the-mood-for.

Explosive Amounts of Progress

Alright. So. Back again this week with some exciting news.
Much progress has been made since last week. . . and soon I will release another interactive online thing for you to play with. We've been working hard (Well, I have mostly) to get things more functional and ready for play.

Speaking of interactive demo things, I have done an absolute crap job of archiving things in any way shape or form. I have two benchmarks right now
well
1.5 benchmarks.

SO HERE'S WHAT I'M GOING TO DO TO AMEND THIS
I turn you now to. . .
THE WEATHER
just kidding
But in all seriousness Here is a handy dandy change log for you to peruse for a bit. This includes things from the <<CURENTLY AS OF FEBRUARY 10th, 2015>> unreleased version of the game
So take a deep breath and here we go

Changelog:
v0.0.1
+ Superalpha release, you can walk.
v0.0.4 (YES I KNOW IT SKIPPED A FEW)
+ Third person controls/camera implemented, not just modified first person rig
+ Player is no longer a pill
                    + Animated player movement
+ Attack function added (Without animations, however)
          + Added enemies
                    + A cube with AI
+ floats after you randomly, changes colors
+ Added health bar graphic (isn't linked to actual health yet)

So yeah. Archived that change log super hard. Oh dang.
Anyways, gotta dash!
Ill be back next week with much, much more!

Huge post of importance and such that's not actually important

Well I have some CRAZY news for you guys.
So after a lot of push and pull I can tone down my flailing from this

to this
.
I have recruited a small team for my project, which is awesome because now I'm no longer dependent on my own motivation. I have friends to aid me! If I fall, they will be there to pick me back up off the ground and move onto the next thing.

So. Introducing the team.
We have me as Project Director, working under the name of alterableAuxiliatrix

We have a good chap by the name of circumspectAmelioration as Code Director

And then we have EsotericPantologist as our Creativity Director

Anyways, now that I have the team assembled

We can finally get down to work on the master list

THE MASTER LIST
TO DO:
3D Modeling
A.      Characters
  Rowan
  Artemis
  The Jackal
  <<Fourth character of importance (Female)>>
  Extras for scenes
B.      Enemies
At least 6 unique nonhuman enemy designs
一)  These can be recolored to signify higher tier versions
  Bosses
  Human enemies
一)  Slightly altered “Extras”, not that hard to do
C.      Mapping
Not quite high priority at the moment. This is one of our later things
D.      Animations
We make these as time goes on
Coding
A.      Flesh out melee system
  Finish Rowan’s combat mechanics
  Start Artemis combat mechanics
一)  Mana/ammo system
Add scroll wheel selection for different attack modes
Add mechanics for Jackal and <<FEMALE CHARACTER>>
一)  Unimportant right now
B.      Add Enemy AI
Add basic AI for “basic” enemies
  Boss AI
  Enemy attacks and mechanics
C.      “Menuesque” Functions
  Save/load system
  Main menu
  Character select screen
  In game/ pause menu
In game shops (NOT NECESARRILY NEEDED, VERY OPTIONAL)
D.      Cameras
  Mainly player camera
E.       Flesh out characters
  Health system
Mammo (Mana ammo thing unique to Artemis [for now])
F.       Multiplayer functions
  Ignore for now
G.     There’s a lot more to go here I can’t think of it right now
Music
A.      Themes
  Rowan’s Theme
  Artemis’s Theme
  Jackal’s Theme
  <<FEMALE>>’s Theme
B.      Battle Music
  Basic battle theme
  Boss battle theme
  Jackal Fight
  Final Fight
C.      Ambient music

Like two or three ambient tracks for the “Overworld”

The priority system should probably be pretty intuitive
Time to get down to work

Peers and Such

So I visited the blogs of some of my peers today.
The first I visited the blog of my kohai.
His blog studies the brain, how it functions, neuroscience, and the power of the gif. He has much research done on the brain, which is pretty "Dope Nasty" as the kids would say these days. He explains why we enjoy things such as the following:

The second blog i visited was that of an acquaintance on the robotics team learning to code

She's learning how to make a website by using HTML and CSS, although I may or may not have recommended she learn JavaScript FOR NON SELF INDULGENT REASONS

I also visited the blog of a classmate also looking into video games, although she is less focused on design and more on the characters inside them.
She is currently working on a top ten female game characters list, which is pretty cool. I may or may not have made a recommendation.

Anyways, Check the previous posts for more information on how the game is coming. Ill see you next week.

Proof of Progress

Here's a quick environment explorer (Click it!) I whipped up.
You are a pill thing that runs around a weird grid with no purpose.
Like I said, progress,
even if its not much.

RESURRECTION

Guess whose back. . . back again. . . (No its not Slim Shady)
But seriously, its good to be back.
So during the intermission, there was *some* progress made.
mostly in the field of character design and 3D modeling, to be exact.
Anyways, I've enlisted help from a guy I'd like to call The Tertiary Source. He's pretty good at the artistic stuff, especially music. His project Moving the Moon (I'll probably link it later) was a great piece, and hopefully with his help game music will be easy to obtain. There is, however the issue of getting things rounded out. Ive been freaking out because code hasnt quite been working the way it should, and there are no errors I can find, making life difficult
In short, current results are for the most part,

Anyways, this gets us to The Plan

  1. Finish 3D modeling
  2. Fix the code
  3. Design the environment
  4. Find more gifs
  5. Try to condense this all down to be simpler
  6. Add more functionality

So yeah, that's the general plan. The project should be nearing some level of closing if work goes how it should. It's going to be a time crunch but, you know, It'll be interesting to see what happens.
